RESIDENTIAL CASTING COURSES

Our Residential Casting and Fishing courses offer clients a truly unique highland experience unlike any other.

I have found this format for Casting Courses to be superior to One-to-One Casting Tuition.

The course accommodates a maximum of 6 rods (typically 4-5), making it perfect for a 3-day residential experience. The term "residential" indicates that the package includes all meals and accommodation. A chef will prepare evening meals while I handle breakfast. The kitchen will be stocked for you to prepare your own packed lunch. The course is tailored to individual needs, with 95% of the experience focused on what you wish to learn, complemented by a few group demonstrations on the river. You will fish in a pool either solo or with one other rod, depending on river conditions and Ghillies' instructions, while I provide 15-20 minutes of personalized guidance for each guest. This method allows for gradual learning over three days, preventing information overload. This tried-and-true approach has proven effective over time, and a group of 5 or 6 participants works exceptionally well.

These three-day Salmon Fishing experiences, fully hosted by Ian Gordon, blend casting and fishing instruction with Ian's extensive knowledge of salmon fishing in Scotland. From the history of fly fishing to the region's connections with the whisky industry, enjoy a cultural and historical journey with one of Scotland's most knowledgeable salmon fishing guides and storytellers.

After a rewarding day on the River Spey, unwind with Ian over a dram at Waterside Lodge, discussing tackle, techniques, or simply soaking in the highland culture while listening to tales of big salmon caught and lost. Ian will keep you entertained throughout the three days, providing top-notch casting and fishing tuition. Breakfasts will be prepared by Ian at 8 am, with lunches and evening meals served in the lodge.
